2, 2014 8:41 AM EST by TJ Armour Sometimes when things arent broke you shouldnt bother with trying to fix them. Maybe this is something that Kanye West has come to realize since the release of Yeezus. You may remember in 2010 as a site internet set up to his My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy album, Kanye created the G.O.O.D. Friday music series in which he would release a new song every Friday much to the delight of his fans. Some songs (Take One For The Team, Lord Lord Lord, G.O.O.D Friday and Looking For Trouble) never made an album and remained only available via KanyeWest.com as part of the series while others (Power, Monster, So Appalled and Devil InA Blue Dress) were released from the MBDTF album months before the album actually dropped. G.O.O.D Music artist Cyhi The Prince, who appeared on a number of the G.O.O.D.
The trailer first aired during his appearance on Late Night With Seth Meyers earlier this week. PHOTOS: Kanye West’s 20 Most Jaw-Dropping Quotes The film was directed by Hype Williams and will appear in theaters, according to the trailer. Williams directed a number of West’s music videos, including “Diamonds From Sierra Leone,” “Stronger” and “Gold Digger.” Last week, novelist/screenwriter Bret Easton Ellis confirmed in an interview with Noisey that he is also collaborating with West on a film project. Though it would be totally plausible for ‘Ye to be kicking around a few projects, there’s a strong possibility this is what he was speaking of.
Kanye West impersonator who harassed Kim Kardashian revealed as comedian Chris Stephan, posts apology
A recent interview with Vice author Bret Easton Ellis (“Less Than Zero,” American Physco) revealed he was collaborating with West on a film project after the rapper enlisted him to reimagine a scene from “American Psycho” for a promotional clip for “Yeezus.” Ellis said he had penned a script that was in “Kanye land.” PHOTOS: Unexpected musical collaborations “He came and asked me to write the film. I didn’t want to at first. Then I listened to ‘Yeezus,’ ” Ellis said. “It was early summer last year, and I was driving in my car. He’d given me an advance copy, and I thought, regardless of whether I’m right for this project, I want to work with whoever made this. That was seven or eight months ago.
Kim Kardashian will play one of the leading parts. And she will be doing so as herself, insiders familiar with the production say for Radar Online . Kanye himself wont appear in the movie, but he made sure Ellis understood that he wanted to be involved in the creative process because he wanted Kim in the film. Since Kim has been trying to break out of the reality star mold she forged for herself and establish herself as either a respectable actress or singer (quite unsuccessfully so far), getting a juicier part in a film would probably help her get her foot through the door.
That project, which was reportedly scripted by American Psycho mastermind Bret Easton Ellis, is an entirely different cinematic beast altogether. Helmed by veteran music video director Hype Williams, Yeezus apparently follows West during his tour across the globe. Since theres very little information about the project floating around the internet as of this writing, its unclear just how far behind-the-scenes the film will go.
